Branding and Design for A NEW INITIATIVE PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES OF FORM AND FORMAT

Founded in 1979 and based in New York, The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) is the largest and longest running not-for-profit dedicated to independent film.

IFP gave the assignment to develop the branding and design a series of digital invitations for their new Screen Forward initiative, which supports innovative media creators who push the boundaries of form and format with their work. Screen Forward will be there every step of the way incubating, developing, marketing and helping to build audiences and exhibiting new work. Man Kit
gave the logo serie a visual energy as if they were jumping out of the screen. The typeface is based on a design engineered for a cinema subtitling machine. By using a laser to erase the color layer of the film, very small and brilliantly white letters appear. The laser can only move in straight lines, which explains why the typeface doesnt contain any curves.
